One worker seriously injured in the initial explosion was confirmed dead after suffering head injuries and falling into a coma.

At least 16 workers in southwest China were killed after they became trapped underground in a coal mine and exposed to unsafe levels of carbon monoxide, Chinese state media reported. The company which owns the mine, Chongqing Energy, had previously received fines from the Chongqing Coal Mine Safety Supervision Bureau.
Sixteen people were killed in a southwest China coal mine accident on 27 September 2020, the official Xinhua news agency said.
