[Chinese only: Blog set up by reporter Wang You and editor Weng Bao of China Business News, regarding defamation lawsuit brought against them by Foxconn (part of Hon Hai) over their news report alleging mistreatment of workers]

[Blog is in Chinese. Following summary of key points from the blog provided by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre.] China Business News editor Weng Bao, writes in his 28 Aug blog entry that the defamation lawsuit brought against him and journalist Wang You by Foxconn over their news report on working conditions is the toughest incident he has faced during his 10-year career in journalism. He considers the legal battle a tactic to terrorise journalists. With his personal assets and bank accounts frozen, he feels that his right to work and dignity is being threatened. The threat comes from what he calls the “corporate machinery”, not only of Foxconn, but also the enormous empire owned by its parent company, Hon Hai’s President, Mr Terry Kuo Taiming. The threat had not been made a reality until the aggressive Foxconn lawsuit, which exposes how vulnerable an individual journalist is in face of the corporate machinery. His fear is shared by many other journalists who are the forefront of reporting on corporate misbehaviour, such as the editor of Business Watch Magazine, Mr Gao Yu.
