Colombia: NGOs warn of threat of eviction of peasant communities on the banks of the Ranchería River by Cerrejón

A public statement reproduced by a human rights NGO denounced the attempted forced eviction of mestizo peasant families living on the banks of the Ranchería river, in the village of Papayal, municipality of Barrancas, La Guajira, by employees of the Cerrejón coal company and the police inspectorate. The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited Cerrejón to respond; the response is available.
