Electrolux: We did not lock up 100 workers

[Unofficial summary translation by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre of the Swedish language original] More than 100 people were locked up in an Electrolux factory in Thailand on Friday, according to the newspaper, Dagens Arbete. One of those locked up was said to have been a heavily pregnant woman. The paper also alleges that the local union representative was removed from the factory grounds and fired. These allegations are incorrect; no one was locked up. This relates to a strike at our Thai factory but nobody was locked up, said Ingrid Yllmark, Electrolux’s acting press officer. There are some workers who have been fired because of an illegal strike, she added. Dagens Arbete said it would publish photos this afternoon which they claim shows the workers locked up.
