Ford response to alleged sourcing from Serbian Linglong factory amid migrant worker abuse

Ford Motor Company (Ford) thanks you for your request regarding Shandong Linglong Tire’s Serbian factory and is pleased to provide a response. Ford does have business with Shandong Linglong Tire and recent Responsible Supply Chain Initiative (RSCI) audit results, while still preliminary, did not find evidence of these issues at the facility. However, we would like to take this opportunity to share the following details outlining the actions we take to assess our risk and identify and prevent human rights and environment issues in our business and value chain.

human rights due diligence

At Ford, we are committed to respecting human rights everywhere we operate and throughout our entire value chain. Ford has a long history and commitment to respecting human rights and the environment, as demonstrated by our global leadership on this topic...

We have many areas of focus with our due diligence efforts, for example:

  • To ensure that our commitment to respecting human rights everywhere we operate cascades throughout our supply chain, we utilize various tools. Our Supplier Code of Conduct, which outlines our requirements and expectations for suppliers including the protection of human rights and the environment, responsible sourcing of materials, and responsible business practices; as well as using third-party sustainability audits to assess our supply chain and let suppliers know whether they meet their contractual agreements and our human rights expectations.
  • We also place a heavy focus on Supply Chain Transparency giving us visibility into our supply chain and will launch an investigation against any potential supplier who doesn’t adhere to the Supplier Code of Conduct. We also partner with other businesses across sectors to learn from each other and share best practices.
  • Additionally, we focus on Responsible Sourcing of raw materials where we use our purchasing power to not only fuel our business but also protect communities and the environment.
