Govt. suspends operations at mine to assess safety conditions as 15 miners rescued

"15 narrate their ordeal in collapsed mine"

Sighs of relief greeted the news of dramatic rescue...of 15 people who had been trapped in a collapsed mine in Geita for 4 days...The rescue mission was hailed by the government that also ordered the temporary closure of the mine until safety measures of the workers was ascertained...[The] deputy minister for energy and minerals, Dr Medard Kalemani...[told the commissioner of minerals]..."[we] are not ready to risk the lives of Tanzanians, so you should assess the situation here before allowing the owners of the mine to resume their activities".
