India: Two West Bengal youths injured by tiger at tea estate

In April 2023, it was reported that a tiger attacked two youths resident at the Bamadanga-Tondu tea estate. The youths were taken to hospital. Residents have demanded that the foresters on a priority basis lay a trap and cage the leopard that they suspect is still roaming in the tea garden. The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre sought a response from Unilever, a buyer from the estate according to its publicly disclosed supplier list, and Lipton (formerly ekaterra), which took over most of Unilever's tea business in 2022. Lipton stated that does not source from the estate. Full responses are included below.
