Iranian Railways inks $7.8m deal with AREP

AREP signed a $7.8m (EUR7m) with Iranian Railways, to locate and design stations for Tehran, Mashhad, and Qom, Mohsen Pour Seyed Aqaei, managing director of Iranian Railways said.

Abbas Akhoundi, Iranian roads and urban development minister said in May 2015 that Iran plans to allocate $25bn to develop its rail network by 2022.

Up to $3.5bn can be allocated for expanding infrastructure and superstructures in the rail sector by Iranian fiscal year 1400 (March 2021-March 2022), he added...

Iran currently has two contracts with France's AlstomTransport and Germany's Siemens to build locomotives, Press TV reported.
