Indigenous Israel Carlos Miranda Guajajara died after being run over by a car and the police confirmed that it was a case of homicide. The case adds to the murder of Janildo Oliveira Guajajara and Antônio Cafeteiro Silva Guajajara. The three crimes occurred in an interval of less than two weeks. All of them participated in a group known as the Guardians of the Forest, created by the indigenous people themselves to protect their territory. The guardians work to identify and watch the trails opened by illegal loggers and catch the action of criminals.
