ISS response to exploitation of undocumented workers outsourced to Sainsbury's

The Resource Centre invited ISS to respond to the following questions:

  1. Respond to the report’s findings;
  2. Disclose the steps it is taking to investigate and remediate the reported abuse; and,
  3. Disclose how you monitor working conditions.

A spokesperson for ISS UK said, “ISS takes a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to compliance with all our obligations under UK legislation relating to modern slavery and human trafficking, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and ensuring that our employees have the right to work in the UK.

"ISS continually reviews and updates its internal policies, procedures and training to support our commitment to fair and lawful employment practices. We will carefully evaluate this historical incident and incorporate any findings which might assist in further augmenting our current existing protections and deterrents."
