Italy: Nine injured during protests at FedEx

Moments of great tension during yesterday’s night in Tavazzano con Villavesco (Lodi), where clashes occurred during a garrison organized by some workers of the FedEx Tnt fired by the company.

According to what Si Cobas said, the demonstrators had gathered to protest in front of the gates of the Zampieri warehouses in via Orecchia, moved from Piacenza to Tavazzano about a month ago. Here they would encounter resistance from logistics employees.

The garrison, according to what was reported by the trade unions, had been organized to protest against the layoffs occurred in the FedEx-Tnt factory in Piacenza...

Having reached the new factory of Zampieri Holding, located in the area of ​​the former Pallex, to express their dissent, the workers, some of whom came from Piacenza, were attacked. The actual violence occurred around 2 am, when the assailants (according to the victims’ version it was a group of workers backed by a company bodyguard) threw themselves at the demonstrators, armed with sticks, stones and taser. According to another version, however, the employees of the FedEx of Tavazzano were in fact kidnapped inside the building, which is why they forced the blockade armed with sticks and pallet boards...

There are 9 people who needed assistance following the attack. In particular, a worker from Piacenza, who was seriously injured in the head, was transported on a stretcher to the Emergency room of the Polyclinic of Pavia...
