JBS response on tackling the pandemic of COVID-19

...JBS believes that the text brought by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is based on unfounded information and erroneous assumptions regarding the Company, the second largest food company in the world, responsible for over 250,000 jobs worldwide. For a better understanding, the clarifications follow in parts:...The health and safety of its employees has been JBS's top priority since the beginning of the pandemic. The company has already invested R$ 3 billion worldwide to implement protective measures to protect its employees and support the communities where it operates. The company has a global guideline and adopts strict prevention protocols against Covid-19 in all its production units.  Regarding the United States specifically, JBS USA informs that it is contesting OSHA's citations, because it believes they are without merit. The company has diligently followed, and often exceeded, the guidelines issued by OSHA related to Covid-19 at all of its facilities in the United States...In Brazil, JBS also...[follows]...a strict protocol for addressing the pandemic...All employees who test positive for Covid-19 receive immediate leave and remain away from their positions until they are fully recovered. In all cases, the company's health team performs permanent monitoring...JBS reiterates that the prevention and safety measures are in accordance with the standards established by the country's public authorities, and therefore there is no violation or measure that can be adjusted through a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) to be signed by the Company with the Public Ministry of Brazil, as speculated in the story...About the decision in the first instance of the 6th Labour Court of Caxias do Sul, JBS informs that it does not comment on lawsuits in progress...The Company also launched the JBS Fund for the Amazon, whose mission is to finance the sustainable development of local communities and entities that operate in the Amazon Biome...
