Kosovo: Migrants in multiple sectors incl. food delivery allegedly subjected to exploitation, incl. wage theft & sexual abuse

In August 2026, it was reported that migrant workers are being subjected to labour exploitation in Kosovo across multiple industries.

Reporting says migrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, and Latin America fill labour shortages in Kosovo in construction, manufacturing and services. Yet some are subjected to wage theft, restricted movement, sexual exploitation, poor living conditions, and suspected human trafficking.

In one case, women from Latin America were brought to Prishtina under the pretence of hospitality jobs, but were forced into prostitution and subjected to violence. An investigation was launched after two women reported the abuse to the police. Similar cases have been found in massage parlours and nightclubs employing often undocumented women from Latin America, Moldova, Albania and other countries.

Reporting says migrant food delivery riders are also subjected to abuse. In one case, a company recruited Nepali workers to Kosovo on work visas for jobs they had no knowledge of.
