On 11 January 2011 Laogai Research Foundation (LRF) released a report, "Building on the Backs of Prisoners: Examining the Imports of a Canadian Construction Company" [PDF], which stated that Inland Screw Piling, a Canadian construction company, had imported products from Xinxiang Zhongke Mining Equipment Company, a factory in Henan Province, China that allegedly uses prison labour.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Inland Screw Piling, Xinxiang Zhongke Mining Equipment Company and the exporter named in the report, Qingdao Yijia Metals Minerals and Machinery, to respond.  Inland Screw Piling and Xinxiang Zhongke Mining Equipment Company responded;  Qingdao Yija Metals Minerals and Machinery did not.  LRF subsequently issued a rejoinder, to which Xinxiang Zhongke Mining Equpment Company commented.  The company responses, LRF rejoinder, and further company comments appear below:
