Malaysia: Authorities crack down seven illegal sand mining operations, seizing equipment & other assets worth an estimated RM13.26 million

… Seven illegal mining operations in three states have been busted, with the General Operations Force (GOF) seizing equipment and other assets worth an estimated RM13.26mil through Ops Gali Mega.

GOF Central Brigade commander SAC Hakemal Hawari said the operation to crack down on the activities began at 11am Wednesday, covering Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Johor, Bernama reported.

He reported that the operation involved checking a total of 31 individuals, resulting in the arrest of 15 for various offences.

Meanwhile, Hakemal said the latest raid at 3.30pm on Thursday (Aug 20) targeted an illegal operation site covering an area of ​​0.647ha at Lot PT 89, Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang Lama, which was believed to be processing sand without permission…

“The operation team also seized 1,500 tonnes of sand, heavy machinery and sand washing and processing equipment with an estimated value of RM5mil at this location alone,” he said.
