Armed men killed the ejidal commissioner of the municipality of San Salvador El Verde, identified as Marcos Sánchez Perea.

Sánchez, who was the director of security in that municipality, had already been attacked last February along with forest guards who were building ditches to prevent loggers from entering.

According to regional media, the ejidal commissioner was identified for protecting natural resources and tackling the problem of illegal logging.
