Three forest rangers, José Ángel Pelcastre, Ventura Ojeda and Florentino Castro, were killed in the municipality of San Salvador El Verde, Puebla, while Marcos Sánchez Perea, Ejidal Commissioner of San Salvador El Verde, was shot and wounded in the early hours of Sunday. The members of the community of San Andrés Hueyacatitla were scraping a ditch on the slopes of Iztaccíhuatl, to prevent the passage of vehicles used by loggers to steal timber.
