In October 2022, Morgan Trowland and Marcus Decker stopped traffic for almost 40 hours after they climbed the cables supporting the Queen Elizabeth II suspension bridge in Dartford, Kent, UK in a protest in support of the Just Stop Oil climate activist group. The two were arrested and sentenced to 3 years and 2 years 7 months respectively.

Since October 2023, 633 protesters belonging to the Just Stop Oil movement have been arrested, including Callum Goode, Luke Watson, Greg Sculthorpe . Nine of them including Sarti, are in prison, seven of whom have been imprisoned, without trial. They are Cressie Gethin, Noah Crane, Ella Ward, Ruby Hamill, Phoebe Plummer, Chiara Sarti and Christopher Ford.
