Massive layoffs at Ku6 video site spark conflicts [China]

Massive layoffs at video website giant ku6.com have triggered conflicts...A video of about 20 Ku6 Shanghai employees and two men pushing and shoving has spread online...The employees declared...that several of their own men were hurt and that the two "hired thugs" tried to flee after injuring colleagues…There was no violence in the layoffs in Shanghai and Beijing, said Ku6 human resources department director Yu Peng, who spoke to media at a press conference Thursday evening. "We've always communicated with employees through friendly negotiations, and hopefully we can sort this out within two days," he said…Ku6 will file a lawsuit against [deputy executive] Hao [Zhizhong] for "spreading lies and bringing negative consequences to the company," according to a Ku6 press release Thursday. The company will also take action against those in Shanghai who started the conflict, the release said...
