The indigenous authorities denounced and rejected the harassment, repression and persecution against the Maya Q'eqchi 'Communities of Cahabón and Alta Verapaz for having filed the constitutional actions of amparo against the Oxec Hydroelectric Project in Guatemala. The suspension of the Oxec hydroelectric project, and the Constitutional Court order to consult to the communities has generated political and legal reactions from the business summit to intimidate the indigenous communities that requested the legal safeguard and as well to push back the sentences of the Court that has shown progress in its jurisprudence in matters of Consultation and Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
