Morocco: Managem, which sources cobalt for BMW and Renault, accused of poor working conditions; Managem did not respond

The workers interviewed as part of a survey conducted in the cobalt mines of Managem report the disastrous working conditions in which they work. These conditions include, in particular, the impossibility of declaring their professional illnesses, poisonings, neurological illnesses, cancers and pulmonary infections linked to the use of arsenic. Among other violations, trade unionists cited cases of intimidation and arbitrary imprisonment. BMW and Renault have ensured that Managem Group's cobalt is certified and that regular audits are carried out on the operating sites.
