Myanmar: Garment workers demand wage increase amid excessive overtime; incl. co. response

In September 2024, it was reported that workers at Sen Yu staged a strike demanding the 1,000 kyats increase in their allowance that they are owed, but the employers threatened to crackdown on them. Workers reported that they are forced to work excessive overtime, but wages are low, so they stopped working. During the protest, the employer reportedly forced some of the workers to work overnight, and more than 100 daily wage labourers were forced to work overnight without any days off, and were fired immediately if they took a day off. Workers also reported excessive production targets and verbal abuse if workers failed to meet them.

In September 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited LPP (for Reserved) respond. The response can be found below.
