Neste's response to allegations associated with AAL

...

Neste is aware of the raised allegations against PT Astra Agro Lestari (AAL) and has been monitoring the development of these cases on an ongoing basis. Detailed timelines of key events and progress updates are publicly recorded in our grievance log. We have been engaging directly with AAL regarding their action plan on a regular basis, and have been closely monitoring the status of their actions. In addition, we have consulted with various stakeholders, including our sustainability partners and industry peers, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation. We continue to actively monitor the progress of these cases.

Neste does not source crude palm oil but uses different residues from the palm oil industry to produce renewable fuels. We do not source from Astra Agro Lestari directly, however, we may be exposed to Astra Agro Lestari indirectly, further upstream in our waste and residue supply chains. The Friends of the Earth (FoE) report raises concerns about three AAL subsidiaries in Sulawesi. Neste has verified that these mills are not part of our supply chains. The FoE report also highlights a potential sourcing linkage indicating that PT Letawa, another mill belonging to the AAL group, likely sources from the three implicated mills. Neste confirms that our direct supplier ceased sourcing from PT Letawa in 2024 to eliminate any sourcing association with the three AAL subsidiaries named in the report (PT Agro Nusa Abadi, PT Mamuang, PT Lestari Tani Teladan). Neste does not source directly or indirectly from any mills located in Sulawesi.
