After threats made through an audio message, a group of heavily armed gunmen attacked the Pataxó people in a retaken area in the Comexatibá Indigenous Territory in the municipality of Prado in the extreme south of Bahia. The land is the target of disputes between indigenous people and ranchers. The attack victimized Gustavo Silva da Conceição, a 14 year old adolescent who died instantly after being shot in the head and another 16 year old who was admitted to a hospital in the region. The gunmen arrived at the scene in a car, shooting at young people, children and women, armed with 12 and 32 caliber weapons, point 40 rifles and tear gas canisters.

The attack is part of a series of attacks against the Pataxó Indigenous People: 26 June 2022 and 22 August 2022.
