From 25 to 27 November in Accra, Global Rights will bring together civil society organizations from across sub-Saharan Africa for the first African Regional Civil Society Convening on Human Rights and Business. These civil society organizations have years of experience working in challenging and diverse environments. They have engaged with their governments, domestic and multinational companies to defend the human rights of communities affected by activities of businesses in the extractives, infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture, and other industries. [It] will be a space for these organizations to: [1] Share learning and skills on practical strategies for influencing state and company practices and policies to realize human rights, and the complex system of recourse mechanisms, both judicial and non-judicial, for effective remedy, [2] Build understanding and relationships with their peers who are working to protecting human rights where business activities occur, in order to foster greater support for each other’s work and collaboration, and [3] Begin designing an agenda for an African regional coalition on human rights and business...[Contact [email protected] for more information]
