On 1 June 2026, Indigenous Mangyan-Iraya land defenders in Sitio Malatabako, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, were forcibly evicted after Pieceland Corporation demolished the remaining 14 homes in their community following a court order. Human rights organisations alleged that the eviction formed part of a broader campaign of harassment, including threats, restrictions on livelihoods and access to water, intimidation, arrests and torture, aimed at forcing the community from its ancestral land to make way for corporate interests. Rights groups condemned the lack of meaningful consultation with the Indigenous community and called for accountability, arguing that the eviction violated the Mangyan-Iraya's rights to their ancestral domain and free, prior and informed consent.

The Business and Human Rights Centre invited Pieceland Corporation to respond; it did not.
