Susana Prieto Terrazas is a well known labour rights lawyer who has defended the rights of maquila workers in the North of Mexico for years. Recently she has been engaged in legal fights against maquilas for violating labour rights in the context of Covid-19. On 8th June 2020 she was arbitrarily detained. Since her detention, national and international organisations, movements and trade unions have demanded her freedom and have held the government and a list of companies responsible, including BVI, Merit, TPI, Tridonex, Kongsberg, Electrolux, Lexmark and BCS ASI.
