Toshiba's response concerning Upper Yeywa

7 August 2020

[...]

Regarding the Upper Yeywa hydropower dam project, our Chinese subsidiary has a business contract with China’s Zhejiang Orient Engineering Co., Ltd. and we supply hydro turbines and generators to Zhejiang Orient Engineering which is the Upper Yeywa Hydropower Plant project’s EPC* contractor who then supply to Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise.

*EPC: Engineering, Procurement and Construction

We have shared this with Zhejiang Orient Engineering and have asked Zhejiang Orient Engineering to check the current situation. After confirming the situation and if we find it necessary we will request Zhejiang Orient Engineering to ask Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise to take appropriate measures.
