India’s struggles to create a safe environment for women and the inadequacy of its laws to keep pace with new digital business models were both in evidence…as more details emerged on the rape of a…woman…the Delhi government’s transport department banned Uber from operating in the state… Also under scrutiny were India’s inability to create a safe environment for women…India’s taxmen have been sniffing around the model, sure that Uber is avoiding paying service tax that it should be paying, but the company has always claimed that it complies with all tax laws…The company will also partner closely with the groups that are leading the way on women’s safety in India and help make New Delhi a safer city for women.
