"Stalemate going on in 95-year-old Mahabir Tea Estate in Kamalpur", May 16 2023

A stalemate situation is prevailing in the Mahabir Tea Estate in Kamalpur as the Workers Cooperative that was running the garden for the last several years is not functioning when the new owners are also not coming into the garden. It created such a situation that the workers are not getting their wages for the last five weeks and fearing that if this continues a starvation-like situation will begin in the garden.

The uncertainty in the 95-year-old garden started following a dispute among the owners and all of them stopped coming into the garden. Since then the workers were running the garden forming a cooperative ...

Meanwhile, the ownership of the garden has been changed as the bank auctioned it for non-payment of the loan. The new owners also not yet started operation but asked the workers to give undertaking which is against the interest of the workers.
