World Water Day Brings Pledges for Action from Pepsi, Nestle

PepsiCo has set a new goal to help 3 million people in developing countries receive access to safe water by 2015 and to work toward creating a positive water balance - saving or replenishing more water than it uses - in water-distressed areas...Nestle Waters is continuing its partnership with nonprofit Project WET by providing water education kits to schools...The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Nalco, a water treatment and process company, have partnered to develop best practices for water protection and conservation...Intel Corporation, whose semiconductor manufacturing requires large amounts of water, has created an official company water policy which commits Intel to respecting the human right to sufficient safe water, being transparent about water use and conservation efforts, preserving the quality of water in areas it operates and analyzing water use throughout all of its operations.
