Netherlands: Shell responds to new climate lawsuit filed by Milieudefensie

"Shell's response to our demands in the new climate case against Shell", 17 June 2025

On 13 May 2025, Milieudefensie announced a new lawsuit against Shell. Shell had four weeks to respond.

Shell makes it clear in the letter that the company does not intend to stop investing in new oil and gas projects. By continuing to invest in new oil and gas fields, Shell is knowingly keeping the world dependent on fossil energy. Thus, the company is actively blocking the global energy transition. We will therefore proceed to prepare a summons.
