Papua New Guinea: Campaigners step up activities to protect Sepik River from proposed Frieda River Mine

Sepik River

Jubilee Australia, AID/WATCH and Project Sepik launched a joint campaign to protect the Sepik River from Chinese-owned PanAust's proposed Freida River copper-gold mine. Save the Sepik, through an online petition, urges Papua New Guinea's Conservation and Environment and Protection Authority (CEPA) to reject the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the mine due to enviromental risks, lack of free, prior and informed consent and other deficiencies.
