Russia: Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant failed to fully implement air emission reduction measures, inspectors say

Rosprirodnadzor inspectors conducted an unannounced inspection of PJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, 14 March 2025
Inspectors from the Ural Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor completed an unannounced on-site inspection assessing whether PJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (Mechel Group) had implemented the second stage of measures aimed at reducing atmospheric pollutant emissions, in accordance with the plan for achieving emission quotas.
During the inspection, the plant’s industrial site was examined and documentation submitted by the company was reviewed. As a result, it was established that the enterprise had not fully implemented the second stage of measures intended to reduce pollutant emissions into the air. Consequently, the company was issued an order to eliminate the identified violations of mandatory requirements, which remains under the supervision of the authority.
PJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant and the responsible officials will be held liable for violations of mandatory legal requirements.
