Russia: Worker killed in accident at Komsomolsky mine owned by Norilsk Nickel, investigation underway

Body of conveyor operator who died at Komsomolsky mine in Norilsk was found pinned against roof of a mine working, 13 June 2025

The Investigative Directorate for Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia reported the death of a worker at the Komsomolsky mine of the Polar Division of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel. As previously reported by Sibirskiy.Novostnoy, a conveyor operator was “found without signs of life” in the mine in the evening. The mine continues to operate as usual.

The Krasnoyarsk Krai Prosecutor’s Office уточ clarified that the 24-year-old deceased worker was found at the minus-720-meter level of the Komsomolsky mine. An investigative team was dispatched to the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident and to carry out the necessary investigative actions.
