In August 2023, 32-year-old Christen Marie Mooney Corcoran and 43-year-old Adrian Tung locked themselves to equipment in protest of the Mountain Vallery Pipeline. They were taken to Roanoke County jail and charged with "Interfering with Property Rights".

Police say more than 20 police personnel were on scene over the course of eight hours to investigate and remove the protestors from the equipment.

The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a gas pipeline spanning approximately 300 miles (480km) from northwestern West Virginia into southern Virginia in the United States. Environmental advocates have spent a decade fighting the construction of the pipeline, which started in 2018. The pipeline became operational on June 14, 2024.
