Bangladesh: Garment exporters face drop in work orders from brands by 20-40%

"Bangladesh’s apparel export orders fall by up to 40 per cent, reports claim", 31 March 2023

Consequent to the consumers in the West continuing to tighten their belts amid runaway inflation, the inflow of work orders to Bangladesh from global retailers and brands has taken a hit.

This is as per media reports, which underlined apparel exporters in Bangladesh have claimed work orders for the April-June season has declined by 20 per cent to 40 per cent on account of the high inflation in the West fuelled by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, shooting up the cost of living amidst a pile-up of apparel stocks at the stores.

“The downward trend in the garment shipment started in November and continues still,” reportedly claimed in the meanwhile A K Azad, a top garment exporter from Bangladesh, who further reportedly claimed work orders in his factory have declined by 20 per cent for the next season...
