... On February 16, 2021, and following a request for Transparency by a journalist, The Guardian published emails exchanged between Bayer employees and USTR officials from the United States, related to Mexico's approved presidential decree, which gradually decreases the use of glyphosate and prohibits the importation of genetically modified corn into the country... Our commitments to all public sector stakeholders are professional and comply with all laws and regulations. This commitment allows us to participate in the public debate, interact with different actors, farmers, government representatives, citizens and NGOs. These interactions are necessary to fulfill our mission as effectively as possible because no company can operate in isolation... Lobbying activities are part of the democratic process when carried out in accordance with legal and ethical standards... Bayer Mexico has always conducted itself with strict adherence to the laws and regulations that govern its operations in the country, and will continue to do so in relation to the court ruling released today, which denies a definitive suspension of the decree that determines a gradual decrease in the use of glyphosate and prohibits the importation of genetically modified corn grain... Leading health regulators around the world have repeatedly concluded that our glyphosatebased products can be used safely as directed and that glyphosate is not carcinogenic...We strongly back our glyphosate-based herbicides as they are among the most rigorously studied products of their kind and four decades of science support their safety... Our commitment to the country and the rest of the world is to guarantee people's health and nutrition, in accordance with our global vision: “Health for all, Hunger for None”...
