Chevron’s Response to the Lago Agrio Plaintiffs’ Continued Pressure Campaign Regarding the Fraudulent $9.5 Billion Ecuadorian Judgment

The legal proceedings that these groups [like Amazon Watch and Rainforest Action Network] complain about proved that the Lago Agrio Plaintiffs’ lawyers and representatives had engaged in what one U.S. federal court described as “inappropriate, unethical and perhaps illegal conduct.”…During the course of that trial, Donziger and the Lago Agrio Plaintiffs had every opportunity to present evidence to rebut Chevron’s claims, but instead left the evidence unanswered...These issues and the substantial additional evidence of Donziger and the Lago Agrio Plaintiffs’ fraud are addressed…in the parties’ post-trial briefs…Amazon Watch and others are attacking Chevron for doing nothing more than uncovering and defending itself against this multi-billion dollar extortion scheme.
