India: Workers at Hindustan Zinc's Sindesar Khurd mine die under fallen debris

Two labourers were killed after they got buried under debris at Hindustan Zinc's Sindesar Khurd (SK) mines in Dariba of Rajsamand district on Thursday early morning. Police said workers from Techno Company were engaged in drilling operations in the underground SK mines and were using a jumbo drill machine during the C shift when the occurred at 3:30am on Thursday. The debris suddenly fell onto the machine, causing it to fall into a pit. The two workers manning the machine were identified as Manish Kumar from Uttar Pradesh and Bahadur Singh from Gangas near Gilund. The incident sparked widespread panic among other workers who rushed to remove the debris to extract the bodies of the labourers. However, by the time they were recovered, both workers had succumbed to their injuries.
Railmagra SHO, Prabhu Singh Chundawat, said as a precaution, operations in the affected section of the mine were temporarily halted, and access to the mine was restricted.Bodies of the workers have been kept at the mortuary of Hindustan Zinc Hospital for post-mortem examination. The authorities informed the families of the deceased and are waiting their arrival before proceeding further.
