After one year postponement, Tokyo Olympics officially starts on 23 July 2021. However, the games are hosted while Tokyo is in a state of emergency due to increasing COVID-19 cases. In the latest poll, 58% of respondents in Tokyo oppose holding the Games. Also, a series of scandals on past human rights issues in relation to the Organizing committee's personnel have been revealed.
