Kazakhstan: CSOs urge ArcelorMittal to provide full compensations to victims of recent accidents before terminating activities in country; incl. co. response

ArcelorMittal, Temitau

A group of CSOs sent a joint letter to ArcelorMittal calling upon the company to grant compensation to victims of deadly accidents that happened 18 times since 1995 and led to over 180 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Besides, the authors demand company to take full responsibility for the deadly accidents at ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC since the State investigations repeatedly attributed the root cause of the accidents to methane gas outbreaks, and held ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC responsible for failing to modernise production and ensure workers' safety.
