S. Korea: Japan-funded Korea Optical High Tech allegedly cuts off water to factory where union members protest liquidation

Korea Optical High Tech, a Japanese-invested company in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, South Korea, closed its factory after a fire accident. Labor union members are protesting against the unilateral liquidation and calling for measures to protect domestic workers from foreign investment. The company has reportedly been trying to forcibly evict protesting workers and has cut off water at the factory workers are occupying.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre reached out to Nitto Denko Corporation, the Japanese headquarters of Korea Optical High Tech for a response. Nitto did not respond.
