Cambodia: About 100 garbage collectors remain on strike demanding benefits since 2 October

"Around 100 Cintri workers still on strike", 12 October 2020

Cintri employee union president Kao Savat told local media ... that some truck drivers and garbage collectors have remained on strike to demand seniority pay, remaining annual leave and job security.

According to Savat, despite nearly 2,000 workers returning to work ..., some 100 truck drivers and garbage collectors are still on strike, due to a failure to reach a solution over some of their demands.

One of the truck drivers, who declined to give his name, told local media that they would only return to work after they had received all of their demands.

Cintri staff representative Kach Sokvat also previously said that the reason why employees have not yet returned to work was that the solution has not been reached.

He also previously added that further meetings between governor Khuong Sreng, the company, union representatives and workers are needed to find a solution...

Strikes began ... when Cintri employees demanded seniority pay, damage pay, and compensation in lieu of prior notice, last month’s salary, annual leave and job security.

Currently, there are six companies shortlisted for the new garbage zones, including Cintri.
