Response by Commerzbank

Commerzbank is a leading international commercial bank with branches and offices in nearly 50 countries. It transacts approximately 30% of Germany’s foreign trade and is the market leader in German corporate banking. The Bank offers its sector expertise to its corporate clients in Germany as well as abroad and serves around 11.6 million private and small-business customers nationwide and over 70,000 corporate clients, multinationals, financial service providers, and institutional clients worldwide.

As a Bank we support our corporate clients regarding their national and international business activities. Business requests connected to Belarus are thoroughly reviewed on a case by case basis. This mainly refers to transactions to hedge and finance German as well as European exports into the country.

With regard to our global business, we seek to fully comply with all applicable sanction regimes and regulations. Sanctions aim at exerting economic pressure on a country to influence its politics. This may lead to restrictions or interruptions of trade relations which also affects us and our clients. Commerzbank does not support any transaction involving sanctioned natural and legal persons, organisations and institutions.
