Response by Commerzbank regarding Belarus letter & EKN withdrawal

As an internationally active commercial bank, we handle around 30 per cent of Germany's foreign trade. We support our corporate customers in their national and international activities - but, of course, only ever in full compliance with and application of the relevant regulations and sanctions. Potential transactions of clients related to Belarus - mostly hedging and financing of German and European exports - are subject to a restrictive case-by-case review.

The energy project mentioned serves to modernize the power supply of Belarus and thus to ensure securi ty of supply for the population. In general, we concentrate on securing and financing German exports in Belarus and do not conduct any operational business locally. We also do not accompany transactions with direct or indirect participation of sanctioned natural and legal persons, organizations, and institutions. Of course, we are closely monitoring the current situation in Belarus.

Please understand that we cannot comment on individual customer relationships.
