"10 Nepalis stranded in Saudi Arabia appeal for rescue", 01 Apr 2022

Ten Nepali migrant workers, who were lured to Saudi Arabia with promises of lucrative job offers, have been stranded without jobs.

Six of them had reached Saudi Arabia one month ago and four of them had gone there two months ago via Meridian Manpower Service, Kathmandu, according to Rajdoot Tamang, a victim.

They have been left high and dry after the construction company did not provide them jobs as agreed, let their pay perks alone.

According to Tamang, they had gone to Saudi Arabia by paying Rs 160,000 to 230,000 to the manpower company. The manpower company had said that they would get Riyal 1,500 per month.

The victims said that the Nepali Embassy in Riyad did not listen to their pleas despite repeated requests.

They have also appealed to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, the Department of Foreign Employment and human rights organizations for their rescue.
