2021 International Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) Day

29 November is International Women Human Rights Defenders Day, dedicated to women who invest themselves in defending human rights and civic freedoms. Across the world, events are organised to celebrate the crucial role of women in enhancing human rights, in the framework of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign commencing on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) and ending on the Human Rights Day (10 December).

The 2020 Business & Human Rights Resource Centre's annual report collected 604 attacks on defenders working on business-related human rights issues, up from 572 attacks in 2019.
