Further to your comments regarding Mantra Bell City (the “Hotel”), we confirm that the Hotel has entered into an agreement with Serco Asia Pacific to provide accommodation services at the Hotel under an arrangement with the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs.

We appreciate your apprehensions regarding the situation at the Hotel, but would like to assure you that, from the observances of our teams on the ground, these guests are being treated fairly. We believe the accommodation, facilities, food and care given to these guests is of a high standard.

We confirm that there is a maximum of two detainees per room, which exceeds Covid-19 spacing requirements, and the rooms are comfortable and regularly cleaned. There are several activity rooms in which a wide variety of classes and services are offered - including multi-faith services, English classes, art classes, health and fitness activities and gym facilities. Each person has access to time outside and can enjoy physical activities in the fresh air. This outdoor area is open daily from 08:00 – 17:00hrs.

The Department of Home Affairs provides regular visits by health professionals including a nurse (who is onsite daily) as well as general practitioners, physiotherapists, psychologists and counsellors.

Accor is committed to upholding the fundamentals of the UN Global Compact and we do not believe that our contract with Serco Asia Pacific is in breach of any human rights principles.

We take on board your concerns but would like to assure you that we do not consider that there are any abuses of human rights occurring at the Hotel.
