Bangladesh: Lama Rubber Industries activities in Bandarban infringe on Indigenous people's rights, violate peace accord

Media articles report that the activities of Lama Rubber Industries Limited in Bandarban are allegedly “against the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord, and aim at driving ethnic minorities out of their dwellings”. One article also makes a serious allegation that the company is framing members of the minority community in false cases. Further, it is also alleged that the company has “set fire to about 400 acres of cropland owned by Mro and Tripura minority people at Lama upazila in Bandarban”, “poured poison into a stream”, and “destroyed a banana plantation belonging to a Mro family”.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Lama Rubber Industries to respond to the allegations. It did not.
